CITY STORIES

City stories - Showcasing solutions

With the rapid growth of people living in cities, limited resources and the complexity of issues to be addressed, the challenges to urban health are many and widespread. No municipal leader or city official is immune to the challenges of urbanization and its impact on health, making it one of the greatest public health challenges in the 21st century.

At the Global Forum, the focus is on solutions whereby all cities and participants will have the opportunity to showcase what they are doing to improve the well-being of its residents.

Tell your story

Participants representing towns/cities/urban settings are invited to share, via a public exhibition at the Forum, information, experiences, stories and evidence, about urban health challenges, intersectoral actions for urban health, and leadership on urban health in a specific town, city or urban setting.

These city stories focus on a profile of a city, citing one of its major challenges related to health, a focused strategy or action, and the resultant effects highlighting positive change to the well-being of people. The stories are told through a poster format to be exhibited in the display hall at the venue.

Promoting your city internationally

Six city stories will be selected for a special roundtable session called “City stories” scheduled on the afternoon of Day 2. Selected poster presenters will be notified by 4 November.

The City Stories component of the Forum represents a great opportunity for leaders to tell the story of their cities, and an interactive mechanism for exchanging information for all participants on what works and why.

Guidelines and templates

To facilitate the production of the posters two types of templates are proposed for use. Submitters are also welcome to create their own formats, following the prescribed guidelines.
